In a match having 2 faces: first half dominated and won by Marsa 2-0 and second half dominated and won by Hamrun 2-1, Marsa achieved their first goals and their first points after three consecutive matches pointless and goalless. Hamrun's rear-guard was not effective at all with the Marsa strikers finding enough space to roam into especially during the first half. Coach Atanas Marinov tried to make up for the problems in defence with the inclusion of Neville Galea midway through the first half. On the 30th minute, Marsa's Minabo Aschemie scored the first goal followed by spartan's supporters protests for offside. Just before the break former Spartan's midfielder, Alan Mifsud made it 2-0. Hamrun Spartans where given some instructions during the break as on the second half, they where the better team on the pitch dominating Marsa completely. Kevin Borg reduced the gap for 2-1 by a lovely strike on the 30th second of the 2nd half followed by a Paiber's assist. Kenneth Abela made it 3 -1 just 2 minutes after, Stefan Sultana reduced the gap again for a final result of 3-2. During the final stages of the match, Hamrun pressed a lot and went three times near in achieving the draw, first by Gaetan's Spiteri powerful shot which hit the woodwork, then by Sultana's header finishing only centimetres away and finally a beautiful flying header by Kevin Borg which finished little wide off target.
