After 7 years, Hamrun had finally won 3 points against rivals Valetta. It was a very entertainment match with Hamrun being the most dangerous throughout the whole game. The most dangerous occasion arrived on the 44th minute from a cross of Neville Galea, Johnathon Magri Overand shot low giving the illusion of a goal. During the 2nd half, Valletta took the lead from a dubious partially saved penalty scored from Ivan Zammit. But Hamrun's reaction was immediate with substitute Gaetan Spiteri scoring a magnificent brace and with Mauro Brincat hitting the post again. Referre Mark Spiteri signaled the end of the game with Hamrun grabbing 3 points and clinch a place with the top 6.
